The Sedimentary records of the Hapcheon impact crater basin in Korea over the past 1.3 Ma

The Hapcheon impact crater is the only meteorite identified on Korean peninsula. However, morphology of and nature collision are unknown. In this study, we analyzed sedimentary facies using grain size data; computed tomography images, 14 C, 10 Be, optically stimulated luminescence dating a >66-m-long sediment core (20HCL04) recovered from Basin. Four units types were documented in Basin core. comprise 1) lower part (unit that dominated by moderately to well-sorted coarse gravel, which contains some impact-related sediments; 2) middle (units 2 3) well-laminated mud; an upper (Unit 4) poorly sorted gravel supplied surrounding mountain slopes alluvial fluvial processes. After impact, was filled with deposits wall after ca . 1.3 Ma became deep lake environment. 0.5 Ma, sediments mountains until filled. Finally, deposited fan setting. addition, cores contain tephra layer deformed soft can be used investigate volcanic seismic events Peninsula over past Ma.
